This 4 to 8 page newsletter is published by a small group of very dedicated people. This will be of special interest to educational institutions and people involved in building new studios and factories. After about 15 years this is now the authority on safety issues in the arts, and appears to be growing as a reference for arts related industries like ceramics, pottery, whiteware, etc. This is a great watch-dog to have on the job, and we've certainly appreciated it over the years. They also provide a variety of publications and books that zero in on specific branches of the arts. Vol 16, No. 1 dealt extensively with hazards most materials and process hazards in clay, glazes and firing.
CSA also manages a free computer BBS (OSHBBS) and Web site with almost 1000 files for downloading. These include hazardous substance data sheets, OSHA regulations, toxic effects of chemical substances, etc. Call 212-385-2034 using 8N1 communication parameters.
Arts Hazards News Special Resource Issue
