Barium Titanate

BaTiO3

Miscellaneous

Notes

Barium titanates (pure BaTiO3 and doped variations) have excellent dielectric properties (they are very good insulators) and are used to make capacitors in the electronics industry. Capacitors have thin conducting metal plates separated by an insulating material (the thinner the insulator the more layers devices can have and the smaller they can be). Recent advances in processing barium titanate powders have made it possible to decrease the dielectric layer to thicknesses approaching two microns.
