Mineral, of the ideal form K(AlSi3O8) with a typical empirical analysis of K2O 16.93%, Al2O3 18.36%, SiO2 64.72%
Hardness: 6 Density: 2.53-2.58 Soluble in HF and alkaline bases
Major potassium alumino-silicate in pegmatites, particularly in the vicinity of mica, plagioclase, and quartz rocks. Similar are the microclines and plagioclase.
