Notes
(Richard Willis)
Plutonic rock, essentially a plagioclase pyroxene with ilmenite, magnetite, hornblende, and olivine. Formed by differentiation of ultra-basics of earthen crusts. A bit similar to norite. Gabbroic clay seems to have been commonly used by prehistoric potters, where readily available, probably for it profuse, built-in grog-like inclusions suitable for open firings.
