FELDSPATHIC EARTHS
Miscellaneous
- Family: None
- Region: None
- Mined At: Unspecified
- Raw Mineral: Yes
- Generic: No
Notes
(Richard Willis)
Often a reference simply to natural earths rich in feldspar(s), as are compact clays, pegmatites, etc.; whereas feldspathic clay(s) is often a reference to natural clays made feldspathic by formulated additions of feldspars. However, references to such earths/clays as feldspathic earthenware are not infrequently unclear on this point: whether they are natural earths which would be classified as earthenware were it not
for their uniquely high feldspar/feldspathoid content, or whether they earthenware clays with factory-added feldspars. see chinastone, clay minerals, feldspar and soil, among others
