Mineral, of the ideal form Co3(AsO4)2, 8H2O with a typical analysis of CoO 37.54%, As2O5 38.39%, H2O 24.07%
Hardness: 2 Density: 3.07 Soluble in NO3H Melts to a pearl grey or blue
A common cobalt-bearing mineral, and convenient way of introducing arsenic to formulas, used since antiquity to give blue hues in, particularly, alkaline glazes, especially those very rich in sodium.
