Mineral, of the ideal form BaAl2Si2O8 with a typical empirical analysis of BaO 40.83%, Al2O3 29.16%, SiO2 32.01%
Hardness: 6-6.5 Density: 3.1-3.4 Insoluble in water
A barium feldspar. Used in glazes to enhance colors, to increase fluidity, and (w/ or w/o soda) to encourage crystal formations.
