CALCIUM EARTHS

Miscellaneous

Notes

(Richard Willis)

Also called “calcareous earths” and “alkaline earths”, though the latter is most usually “sodium earths”. Calcium-rich earths are usually to be found where ocean beds, richly laden in marine shell-debris, have been pushed up and let to dry by continental movement.
