A group of silicate minerals found principally in igneous and metamorphic rocks.
Fe-Mg-Mn amphiboles: magnesio-anthophyllite, magnesio-cummingtonite, grunerite, magnesio-gedrite, calcic amphiboles, tremolite, ferroactinolite, edinite, pargasite, hastingsite, alumino-tschermakite
Na-Ca amphiboles: alumino-winchite, rickerite, eckermanite, arfedsonite
alkali amphiboles: glaucophane, riebeckite
