VANCIDE is the trade name of a line of bactericides. In ceramics, Vancide 51Z is used to prevent glazes and slip from deteriorating due to bacteria and fungi. Vancide 51Z is a powdered industrial preservative which is readily dispersible in water, and is easily added to water suspensions such as ceramic glazes and slips.
